Yes! Also — empowering your people actually begins after someone has totally f*cked up. Take responsibility for it (because you’re the boss), make sure the person knows what they did wrong, and then give them the chance to f*ck up again. Keep an eye on them, but stay hands-off (that’s the really hard part, or it was for me). Make it a career-building learning experience for them, not a setback.
