Years ago there was an interview on the radio with an anti-abortion advocate; I was only half-listening for most of it. But my ears perked up when the question was put: “You are against abortion, but why do you allow it for incest or rape?” I had never understood why abortion was evil because a human was being destroyed, but a product of rape or incest was not really human, so there was an exception? The advocate (female, as I recall) started with, “Well, first off, if it’s rape or incest it’s not the woman’s fault…” and that’s when I turned off the radio. That was when I learned for sure that, for a good segment of the “pro-life” groups, “anti-abortion” also means “anti-woman” or perhaps “anti-sinful-woman.”
