Wow. I was raised in the American Episcopal Church with the firm understanding that Episcopalians had a tracing paper’s thickness of difference from our Anglican brethren; apparently we hung a left at the Revolution and never glanced at the rear-view mirror even after such things were invented. And from your quotes, what I thought was THE BCP was apparently just OUR BCP (Book of Common Prayer, for any goyish lurkers who are tuning in late; it was the users manual for conducting services in the church through… the 70s? [it’s been awhile]). Apparently even just crossing the border to the north would have been a cultural shift, ecclesiastically speaking. Interesting. (I still intend to continue to speak with ponderous gravity to my Presbyterian-raised wife about all matters Anglican, however, even as it appears I had no idea what the frak I was talking about.)
