We've also benefitted from one spouse having a restricted diet, Bebe, although in our case, it's me with my diabetes. Fewer carbs, a LOT fewer sugars. We don't miss desserts all that much (and we have sugar-free chocolate!), but fresh bread! <sigh> Sometimes I succumb to a loaf from a bakery, and I'll be pulling off chunks as I walk through the parking lot. Even though it's whole grain (usually multi-grain) I still see the jump in my blood sugars. [What? Half a loaf is too much? Is that, like, a rule, or more of a guideline?] Deb has actually dropped more weight than I have, and she looks great! (Okay, she looked great before, but she looks greater now.)
