“We’re short-staffed and can’t hire anybody.” When tech support is overwhelmed, they start talking technobabble; back in the day, it was my way of getting callers to go away so I could actually troubleshoot the problem. (“Why is the network so slow?” “Well, packet latency has been increasing as internal and external bandwidth are in flux due to—” “Just call me when it gets better, okay?”)
