Well-crafted story, Tre (of course!), but made me sad. Deb's sister is married to a paranoid schizophrenic who constantly abuses her, but alas not in ways that allow calling the cops. Her only freedom has been when he was imprisoned for a year after he threatened their neighbor with a gun (he now has no firearms). Two weeks ago, he made a threat that was on the edge of violence, and she did it! She finally left him! She had had enough! She would get an apartment, she would go back to the house with a constable to retrieve her things, she would start over, she would finally be happy on her own...

Three days later, she was back with him.

Deb cried.
