We sound fairly alike, except I caught the breaks. Same school from kindergarten to 8th grade (and a small school at that, 70-something in my entire class) so I knew all the kids, they all knew me, and I was a little odd at times but hey, that’s just Jack, y’know? And then high school and being VERY odd (like not wearing jeans) and bullying (with no coping mechanism) and having to work for grades (graduated 11 out of 919 — know what recognition you get for being #11? nada, zip, zero, as my father made sure I knew) and no dates (asked one girl out once, and the asking out part went very, very badly) and 42 years later I have no desire to attend a class reunion or even go back to visit the high school building (my sister says it’s amazing, so good for them; done now).
ANYway… yep, we can relate.
