We hope so, Clay! My mother had The Binder for her and my father — part of her part-time job before she retired-retired was to help people prepare that documentation when they went into a care facility. So our family was shocked when the documents turned out to be worthless — in her increasing dementia, she had “reorganized” everything into junk (and my father’s dementia not only prevented him from recognizing it, he pushed back on any attempts to check the binder before it was too late — “Your mother used to do this for a living, I am SURE it is excellent!”). So Deb & I are making sure someone else has possession of the main copy of our binder, plus getting me out of the decision loop of major independent financial decisions so I can’t mess up things.
