This one had me thinking, Roz. I see Sam as someone who decided that he was done. He went through the steps he thought would cause the least amount of hassle for other people; you helped him accomplish one of those steps, which made the time he had left easier.

As someone who believes that we should control our own lives, especially the length of them based on the quality of them, I support Sam's decision. And thank you for helping him and making the process less stressful. It was not your job to stop him, especially when he was thoughtfully working on a goal, not making an instant decision. You were a force for good in the universe when someone needed it. 💚

Deb and I have talked about how we are handling our end-of-life decisions, including bits as esoteric as does it help to tattoo "DNR" on our chests (tl;dr: NO). Fortunately we can afford legal help for things like this.
