This is why our only “smart” light switches are for lights that used to be on timers. I can do things like program to come on 15 minutes before sundown, have all the lights go off at the same set time (the old timers were good for “11-ish”), and have one unit link to others (if motion is sensed by our front door AND the porch lights are off AND it is between sunset and sunrise THEN turn on porch lights for 5 minutes AND record what triggered the sensor) [usually it’s a cat, but still…]. For other areas (like our basement) I have dumb motion-sensor LED lights that mean I don’t have to find the pull string in the dark, nor do I need to have my phone with me to turn them on; less than half the cost of smart bulbs.
