The town in which I grew up was too small for a B&N or Walden's or other then-behemoth book chains, but we did have a cute little shop called The Book Stall. I would stop by on my way home from high school and check out the science fiction section, occasionally giving an opinion to Mrs. Johnson (owner) on which s.f. authors to get. No chairs, but there were some back corners to sit in. Then one day Mrs. Johnson asked if I had my drivers license yet, and offered me a job as a delivery boy. (Turned out later she had asked my mom first — they knew each other from church.) I got employment for the next couple years, and an employee discount. 😊

My wife and I loved spending time at our local B&N until it closed up. Chairs are nice!
