The county park where Deb & I walk is a firm believer in “let ‘em lie and rot!” Unless a trunk falls on a path, then the chainsaw gang clears the path. Eventually. Sometimes we find places where the path got cleared, but meanwhile some hikers walked around it uphill (“It’s shorter!”) while others went downhill (“It’s easier!”), and now there’s an interchange that’s evolved. In a few places people have dragged other limbs or logs into position to cross over the big trunk, but those can be unsteady. And every so often we find a setup that makes no sense, only to discover tire tracks and realize, OMG the crazy mountain bikers set up a jump ramp… 😳
