The Astoria-Meglar Bridge reminds me of the Newport RI bridge. Same concept — let the carriers pass under without hassle. Don’t know they ever actually *had* flattops in Newport; there was just a frigate squadron when I was stationed there 1989-1990, although charts of the anchorage still had circles for carriers. Anyway, start down at the water, zoom up to cruising altitude, admire the fog banks below, dive back to sea level. Deb liked it; I kept my eyes on the road (I’m a very careful driver, careful driver.)
