My wife is an admin who has been riding herd on senior exec types for a couple decades now; recently one of the senior VPs at her university was retiring, and he was appalled to learn that his secretary had been reading his email! (Um, yes, this is how the crap in his inbox mysteriously gets sorted out.) So Deb (just to be on the safe side) brought it up with her boss (university president): “You know I read all your emails coming in and going out, right?” “Yeah, sure. Of course!” They go back to doing what they were doing. Pause. “Wait,” he says, “is this how you always know what I want to do before I tell you?” (He’s referred to her as his “Radar O’Reilly.”) So after five years he figured it out. <sigh>
