I agree with Sherry about the degree thing; I’ve made my living in IT the past three decades, based on my formal training in… physics and nuclear engineering. Oh, and lots of self-learning and bootstrapping. My wife never completed her degree; she could not apply for the administrative job she holds now, where she’s worked over 15 years, because the “upgrade” to the position added a bachelor degree requirement. But I don’t know how to make the HR people happy when they’re digging through résumés and need to eliminate a bunch quickly, so they toss the non-degrees, because nobody has time to read this stuff. And the AIs who take over will be taught by the same groups, so they’ll just discriminate faster.
