Thank you, Tre, for sharing this! (And good luck on your hair adventure [hairventure? 🤔 ummm... no] in case I forget to mention it later.) I've seen many Black women with (what look to me like) intricate hair styles, and I've always wondered: (a) how hard is it to do that? and (2) how hard is it to maintain? So now I know the answer to (a) is "OMG! 😳". I hope the answer to (2) is "Easy!"

I like your results so far, but I will confess my favorite female hairstyle is one I saw close up for the first time on the HR person at my first civilian job: close cut to the point of mere stubble. I realize most women (even most Black women) cannot pull this off; it takes not just a certain kind of head, but a certain kind of manner. The kind of invisible presence that says, "You will NOT f*ck with me! I have sacrificed my own hair, and I will nail you to an altar and set you ablaze before lunch time if I sense an iota of disrespect from you." (See also the Dora Milaje in the Black Panther movies.) I suspect that wouldn't work in all situations, especially when trying to connect with a person, rather than chasten them. (Kicked ass in a welcome-to-the-company HR role, though. Just saying.) Also easy to take care of. (And would go with most hats, which would be important when walking outside on bright sunny days. 😉)

Your microlocs are very Tre, and look beautiful on a beautiful you! 💚
