Thank you, Alexainie! Today we went looking at open houses, not because we want a new house, but because we scope out places that cost three times or more what we paid for ours while making snide remarks (Deb focuses on ugly color schemes and decorating, I point out stupid engineering flaws). We marveled at dumb choices rich people make, and talked about what we’d do if we could afford places this size, and made up stories about families we’d never met based on photos on the wall, and had a good time. It was something we used to do when we had free time on Sundays, and (most importantly) something we never did with her mother (no memory land mines to skirt).
It will take time, but neither of us is going anywhere, and we made promises to always be there for each other that we damn well plan to keep.
