Sometimes I write what comes into my mind as the pieces connect. It’s like I see the actual events, and I just write them down. Doesn’t always make for good fiction.

Of course truth is stranger than fiction — fiction is supposed to make sense!

And other times I have plots and twists and subplots and the whole Literature 101 thing going on. Alas, most of those never get beyond the outline stage.

I say use your process and see what comes out. Editors exist for a reason.
