Samantha, I find your story interesting because I was on the other side of it — I was the straight guy married to a bi woman. This was back in 1989, we were both in the US Navy, and my wife could not even hint at being queer without being thrown out.
Alas, in her case, she discovered that she was not, actually, so much, really, bisexual. We loved each other (still do — my current [straight!] wife and I were at her wedding to a wonderful lady four years ago) but she realized that a guy — even a best friend — just didn't do it for her. Amicable split, and I lived with her and her then-girlfriend for many months while I tried to find a job after leaving the Navy.
It was fun to read your piece and see a version of our dream where it all worked out!
