Public libraries were my path to interesting reading, when I read my first science fiction book (Spaceship Under the Apple Tree) in 2nd grade, followed by Heinlein/Norton s.f. juveniles in 3rd grade. Credit to my mother, who had to be with me so I could check out “advanced” books.
