PMFBI, Jen, (hi, Abbie!) but my wife works at a state Liberal Arts University, and besides the label (LIBERAL! STONE THEM! STONE THEM!) the school has trouble marketing itself as We Just Teach Kids How To Think. (Apparently parents believe they already did that. Or they are fine with the concept initially, but then it turns out teaching kids to think gives them Wrong Ideas, and parents aren’t forking over $OMG$ to get kids who are just wrong.) Someone just graduated this year will hold 7–12 jobs in their lifetimes, a third of which we have no concept of, never mind teaching courses for them. (I graduated in 1980. Physics major, operations analysis minor. Web designer? UX specialist? App marketing? WTF?) And it’s getting more chaotic out there, not less. Students need to be learning how to learn, not how to take tests and regurgitate lectures.
