Our main feeder, Louise, works as you described, which keeps out squirrels. And large birds, but they have learned to feed off the seed on the ground, or they go for the suet. So we have two seed feeders, two suet feeders, and a “corncob” (actually pressed cornmeal in a cylinder shape, you can see it in the background of the shots of Skippy in the globe feeder) feeder. Each one has a different clientele, and none is more than six feet from our porch or kitchen window, so we get to enjoy our customers — which is the whole point, as far as we’re concerned! 😉
