Our cardinal couple never number more than one at a time, although we have parents and juveniles for a few months after nesting season. Apparently our local cardinals are very courteous about not intruding on another's turf?

But not always organized. Yesterday the male ("Mr. C.") was at the feeder. He reached in, pulled out a seed... looked around... looked around... ate the seed. Pulled out another seed... looked around... looked around... ate the seed. This went on for several iterations. Finally Mrs. C. arrived, landed on the other side of the feeder, started eating. Mr. C. flew off. Couldn't tell if he was hurt, or just full. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
