Okay, so thinking like someone in the future looking for the “famous” Suzanne Tanner (let’s start with happy assumptions, eh? 😉): I agree with your idea of the middle initial. I don’t know if you can change your “behind the scenes” Medium name, or if you have to delete it (BACK UP ALL YOUR POSTS FIRST) and start over (and then paste in your previous posts, and THEN delete your old account). And now someone will look for “suzannewtanner” or “suzanne.w.tanner” [or whatever] and get confirmation when they see your profile pic. (Which I like, because it’s just a little different without being too abstract. Personal bias. I don’t know how many of my Medium peeps are “Ann,” “Anne,” “Annie,” or “Anna,” so I live and die by the avatar. To the point that I have trouble picking them out if I just have the name.)
Oh, and unrelated, but something I was thinking of but couldn’t demonstrate because I was typing on my iPad before: when you do poetry, a little trick that is hard to find is ending each line with a Shift+Enter for a line break with no space in between. Example [Enter after each line]:
Had we but
World enough
And time,
This coyness, lady,
Would be no crime.
now with Shift+Enter
Had we but
World enough
And time,
This coyness, lady,
Would be no crime.
Besides making it easier to organize visually, it also makes it easier for the reader to highlight. In the first example, if you highlight, you’ll notice Medium only allows each line (actually a paragraph) individually; in the second example, you can highlight each stanza as a unit.
Alas, ONLY works on desktops and notebooks. ☹️
For what it’s worth! 😊
