Okay, so, a long time ago (mid-1980s) in a land far away (but they still spoke English [strictly speaking better than I did, but only because they invented it]) I was solo in a nice museum place ("solo" = lacking adult supervision) and saw these AWESOME sculptures on display! But poorly lighted. Well, for the camera I had. Although if I set it for a long exposure it might turn out great. But I'd need something on which to rest the camera, right? Oh look, somebody had thoughtfully left a thing [I wasn't paying attention to what] in just the right spot! Set the camera exposure... rest it on the thing... hold very still, aim, carefully press the shutter... do it again to be sure... great!

Look up to see an ancient British guard staring at me like he is really, really sorry that he's not allowed to carry weapons.

Look down to see that the "thing" is an ancient Greek sculpture. (Seriously, people, ropes, it's a thing!)

Listen to the guard explain that it would be appreciated if I left the gallery, and perhaps the British Museum entirely. I take the advice.

Still, when I developed the film after getting back to the States, they were AWESOME photos of the Elgin Marbles!
