Okay, Jenster, first question: Is your hubby on board? At least “Okay honey I think you’re a moron for doing this, but you’re MY moron and I will help you do what it takes to make it work”? Your kid you can buy off (probably) but a spouse’s support is vital.

For my part, I have been a submarine driver, an analyst, an IT manager (starting back when it was “MIS”), a project manager, a teacher, a finance manager, a house husband, a tech writer, and a programmer. Never regretted trying something. But most of those were when I was single.

OTOH, 30 (though it doesn’t seem like it now) is just not that old. Get your chips together, put on your lucky whatever, get your face in your best poker mode, and sit down at the game. You have enough time to go flat broke and come back again.

Caveat: I never had kids (just didn’t work out) but everything I’ve heard said you only get one or two shots at experiencing your kid’s life. Not a deal killer, just something to keep in mind.

Now go get ‘em!
