…te family and closest friends should attend. Having a large reception is a complete waste of money. No one is there to watch the bride become queen of the day. Most people are there to party — to drink and eat.

Oh sure, *YOU* tell my sister that! ;-)
Her wedding was totally, completely, and utterly all about her. (Oh, and whatzizname, the groom.) Okay, that was her first wedding; the second was a quiet trip to the local courthouse and some emailed photos afterward.
My second (me & Deb) we just had parents, siblings, nieces & nephews, and Deb’s first husband (who also did the gorgeous decorations and floral arrangements, because once Bill decided he was gay, he was going to be *G*A*Y* dammit!). What a decent wedding should be, IMHO.
My first wedding was me and my best friend and a local judge; we even borrowed the two witnesses from the wedding ahead of us. Reception was happy hour at the officers club. Can’t recommend it for everyone, but we liked it.
