Oddly enough, I have encountered no transphobic or homophobic behavior in almost 40 years of friendships with LGBTQ folks. Maybe the occasional opinion about how someone presented, but said with the tone of someone expressing personal taste; more like "I don't like to date redheads" than an LGBTQ thing.

I did once ask my lesbian gang why lesbians and gay men stuck together, since they had nothing in common other than the homosexual label. I got a history lesson on the whole "we must surely hang together, or we shall all hang separately" philosophy of the LGBTQ community, which I never had any reason to doubt until the recent anti-trans sentiments expressed by some.
