Not a fer sher dementia diagnosis yet, NE, because, like you say, it could be a lot of things, including "you're just getting older (tut tut, hon, it'll be okay)". My parents were not officially diagnosed until they got the point that it was painfully obvious even to my sister, mistress of denial. My mother was still officially "cognitively impaired" when she thought that my parents' townhome was her old office building and my wife was part of her staff; she would give Deb messages to pass on to the workers in "the next wing."

So basically the odds are good that by the time I have a definite diagnosis, I won't be able to appreciate it.
