Nicely done, Ashley! My wife and I definitely do 1, 2, & 4, and mostly 3; we like doing our own projects and frequently, but not consistently, collaborate. Sometimes from necessity — Deb always manages to find poison ivy (or something virulently noxious) when she works outside, so she has been banned from gardening for the last decade. (Also: it turns out I get light-headed when I lance poison ivy blisters. 🙄)

For the last twenty years I promised to be her friend, her companion, her lover, her partner, and her husband; for as long as she wanted me, as long as she needed me, or as long as we both shall live. She has kept the same pledge to me.

It’s been a few years (over four! — wow!) since I wrote the following piece, but I STILL like being married!
