Names interest me. Probably from family history. Although I appreciate it now, I did NOT appreciate the kidding I got growing up with “Herlocker” (“Is that his locker? Why, no, it’s Herlocker!” 🙄) Then I found my great-grandfather had changed it from Hörlacher, which is close to “her-lock-er” in German but gets mangled to “whore-latch-er” in American. Okay, Great-grandpa, well played, thank you.

My sister could hardly wait to get rid of our last name when she got married. Then she found that Herlocker is not common in Hollywood (she’s a producer who is working on becoming a director) and her maiden name got remembered (“Just remember it’s not HIS-locker, it’s not THEIR-locker, it’s HER-locker”) and childhood teasing got turned to an adult advantage. Google “Julie Herlocker” and the first page is all her. Odd last names for the win!

But Maymuuna is lovely, too. 😉
