I’ve been on Medium since 2015, Linda, and I write here because I like the several dozen “medium peeps” (as my wife calls them) who interact with me. Not my <checks notes> 4.4K followers (really?! I don’t think so!). And the few dozen writers I follow. I didn’t even join the Medium money-maker group until last year (I thought it might introduce me to new audiences — a careful analysis of the data shows hmmm, erm, nope!).

I follow people because they write about their life experiences, or their outlooks on life, or really cool things they’ve learned about interesting plants (or all the above, in at least one case 😉).

I write because I enjoy writing, and my ego is big enough to enjoy sharing my writing, but not so large as to write crap just to get attention. And who knows, maybe some day I will self-publish a book, because why the hell not? 😁
