It’s not much fun to be in a group and you’re the only {female | minority | English-speaker | city person} there. If you don’t have a good reason to be there, you start looking for reasons not to be. And then the group only has a {male | white | Hispanic | rural} outlook on problem solving. Sometimes that’s irrelevant. Other times, it’s fatal. Fatal is bad.
