I’m probably way off base, but it seems like it should be a matter of following the money.

• The NRA pays the politicians to pass gun-lenient legislation.
• The gun companies pay the NRA to pay the politicians.
• The gun buyers pay the gun companies for new firearms after every mass killing, so that they can feel safe.

Mass killings get easier every day. And the money goes ‘round and ‘round. The gun owners feel safer, the gun companies feel richer, the politicians feel… whatever happy politicians feel when constituants die who don’t really matter.
