I’m on my seventh GP in the last 20 years. The ever-increasing trend in US healthcare, in my experience, is to pigeonhole patients into a neat label and call it done. You’re fat? Lose weight, we’ll talk again in six months. Diabetic? Get your blood sugars under control, we’ll talk again in six months. (Unless the corporation the doctor belongs to also does testing—in that case, you need to be seen AND TESTED every three months, even after your A1c is below 6.5.) Over 60? Well, you need to accept that these things happen with age, and doctors are not magicians, amiright? Oops, I think we’re done! (In the time limit of 15 minutes, later 11, currently 9, as set by my insurance company.)
I’m glad you made it through, dear lady, and I’m sorry your culinary life has turned into a search for what does not kill you. ☹️ {*{*{*hugs*}*}*}
