I’m curious what would happen if someone makes the case that Trump isn’t a billionaire, or even (looking at assets minus debts) a millionaire. I keep seeing reports that he really have money, just funds from leveraged holdings that he doesn’t always have in the first place. Banks can’t call him on it, because then they’d be culpable for carrying assets on their books that are fictional. It’s supposedly his main reason for not releasing his tax returns.

And certainly having the world know he’s not “rich” (or at least not as wealthy and successful as he likes to say he is) would be the thing most likely to crush his fragile ego.
