I was stationed in Orlando the first half of 1981 for nuke school. Our apartment complex was a mass of orange blossoms, having been an orange grove previously; the locals sighed that the orange business had gone downhill after some horrible freeze a few years before. And then, from what you say, it got worse… 😢
