I was caught by surprise when Deb admitted to “Raspberry Beret” as an ear-worm — I never pictured her as a Prince fan, or even Prince tolerant. But she will bogey to James Brown (“I feel good!”) or Starship (“We built this city on rock & roll!”) or just some song that came on the radio. She never remembers song names and is 50/50 on artists.
I was going to say Deb is the dancer in the house, but I remembered that I do dance workouts from Apple’s Exercise+. I can’t dance in any real sense, never took lessons in grade school, but a few years ago the meal-packing group Deb & I were on were sharing the same space as a Zumba workout class. I had never heard of Zumba, but it looked aerobic, so I started exercising to videos streaming on Amazon Prime. When Exercise+ started I switched to the dance workouts there (my Apple Watch keeps track of my movement and stats, plus the Exercise+ workouts are better geared to a klutz like me, IMHO) and I do 3 or 4 a week. Easier than High-Impact Interval Training (HIIT) workouts that I do the other days. But I would not say I dance, I just move vigorously in time (more or less… usually less) to the music. Which is usually Latin music, because I do better with Jhon, the Latin dance coach. Could I do any of the routines if Jhon wasn’t on-screen talking me through it? Probably not. That’s fine, the point is to get my heart going (hopefully postponing dementia) and burn calories (help my diabetes).
Together, Deb & I don’t so much dance as sway in time to the (slow) music while holding each other.
I was thinking of Captain Argentina when I submitted this to W&W. 😁 🕺
