I told my OC students (I taught at OCS at Newport for my final tour — well, until I got snagged to computerize the Training Department budget [yes, it was 1990 and a department with 11 schools had its budget managed with fat folders of green bar printouts]) that they would see women assigned to subs as crew during their time in the Navy. Okay, 30+ years later, one or two *might* have still been in… <sigh>

I was a LANTFLT sailor so I never got to San Diego. Heard it was nice. 😊

I remember good times at the simulators at the Groton Sub School. Especially the Damage Control trainer. One time when we were doing refresher training the chiefs convinced me (the only zero in the group) to let them take the first session with the senior enlisted while I took the junior enlisted all by myself. The chiefs, as you’d imagine, “won” all their scenarios; my team, we died a lot in very cold water. Good times. 😉
