I think of little horror short stories like this as “the episode from the point of view of the red shirt.”¹ The main episode (CSI-Mumbai, maybe?) involves the investigation of the testing company, and there’s a photo of the victim and mention of the horrible experience she went through, but then we cut to commercial and she’s forgotten.

And then, there’s your story, where the victim is a person and somebody we can relate to. So it’s not just a horror story, Indira; it’s speaking up for the forgotten! ✊

Or am I over-analyzing? 🤔

¹In Star Trek, the crewman who gets sent to check out the cave, or investigate the sound, or was just standing watch, or whatever was happening before the Terrible Horrible No-Good Death, somehow was always wearing a red shirt.
