I remember when my 1984 Mercury Capri (replacement for the Bobcat) started running rough. Ha, thought I, no problem, just a tweak or two to the carburetor and we’re good.
This was my introduction to fuel injection systems. Which are nothing like carburetors.
It turned out to be the Capri’s onboard computer. (I was into IT at this point. The irony was not lost on me.) And that was the end of my car maintenance hobby.
