I love grape hyacinths in the spring, but they irk me in late summer. The spring flowers are a delight, but the second-growth leaves look like the invasive grass that infiltrates our flower beds. Weeding is hard enough without having to go into CSI-mode trying to determine “weed or future flower?” when I’m pulling. Roots — yeah! Bulb — <sigh>.
