I learned this in high school in the 1970s, from a Conservative Jewish friend. (While our high school was Jewish enough that we had the High Holy Days off — officially they were snow days, because sure, LOTS of winter storms in September and October in Illinois 🙄 — probably 95% were Reform.) Steve taught me about two sets of dishes, and the PROPER way to prep a home for Pesach, and that Hanukkah was NOT "Jewish Christmas"! Oh, and there would NEVER be such a thing as "Hanukkah cards" because Hanukkah was actually a minor holiday in Judaism.
Steve was a good guy, but obviously seriously underestimated the greed of the greeting card industry. 😐
I told him how Christmas was almost all adopted from the pagans, except for the birth of Jesus... who was born in the spring, not winter. I'm not sure he believed me.
