I had a similar awakening, Yael, with a computer program that produces I Ching readings. The program didn’t just go, “Here’s a reading, have a nice day.” It walked me through forming a question… picking or adding three key words related to the question… taking a minute or five to hold the words and the question in my head while pondering a candle flame (computer-generated! and b&w, this was an old old Macintosh program), then pressing the space bar three times when the moments felt right to randomly pick the reading. (Also nice contemplative background music.) 😊

Half the time, having gone through all that, the reading was almost beside the point. Although it could provide interesting side thoughts. 🤔

I worked in IT tech support, and I always tried to emphasize to users that they needed to be able to describe their computer problem before they picked up the phone or put in a ticket. The Book of Changes program taught me the same thing about personal problems — verbalize the problem I’m trying to solve, before contemplating a solution. Be open to an unexpected solution. Be open to NO solution.

Is that similar to your process with readings, Yael? Or am I off in another direction?
