I grew up in Kenilworth, Sherry. After I left for college, my parents moved steadily north in search of cheaper property taxes — Winnetka, then Lake Forest, and now Lake Bluff. (Just my father now, since my mother passed away this last October.) But I suppose I would list “Kenilworth” under “home town” if asked. You (and maybe Roy) might get the humor in this song:
I’ve lived in Pee-Ay (yes, we’re the only state where the residents refer to it by its USPS abbreviation) since 1993 so it’s been home longer than any other state/country, and in another ten years I can say I have lived most of my life here.
But I still have a great fondness for Chicago, so thank you for sharing! Any stories of growing up near a Naval Air Station?
