I fault the medical insurance systems (private *and* government). A doctor gets paid for a 15 minute visit — if it takes longer, that’s a second billing, for which they may not get reimbursed. Extra tests provide CYA for the practice in case they get sued, but since the same insurance company also owns the test lab it’s all profit anyway.

And I’m a lucky one, with decent insurance (through Deb). The poor folks who have no insurance or the catastrophic insurance pay full fare and get taken to the cleaners, and that’s after negotiating on which treatments/tests are necessary. And then there are the veterans…
