How was the scent, Wade, as you stood in the midst of those beautiful bushes?

My wife laments the modern roses have no scent to mention; OTOH, our one surviving heritage rose produces wonderfully-scented blooms that are a pile of petals on the ground two days after opening. So of course modern gardeners breed for longevity over other factors, especially when the public wants roses that last for a week or two. ☹️
