Hmmmm. Although that’s not a small thing, Jessica, is it possible that you also wanted to do a good job just because That Is Who You Are And What You Do?

My wife and I recently retired. I really liked my coworkers and the job part of my job, but the company I worked for was falling apart from the top down and the stress was getting to be too much. My wife had a new boss who devalued her, belittled her, and didn’t let her do her job. But both of us maintained maximum effort until our last day, not because we cared about getting hired in a new job some day, but because that’s how we always did things. Based on how you describe your work ethic, I can’t help but think you are a like-minded person.

But those kind of folks aren’t the ones who need to read articles like yours. 😉
