Happened to me, TeriJo, on Medium of all places. One of my “Medium peeps” with whom I traded quips back and forth last year; then I said something dumb (which I didn’t realize immediately) that caused offense. I apologized, was forgiven, then later I responded to something they wrote that caused a reaction. Again, apology & forgiveness, and I deleted the offending post, but I felt like I had somehow gotten out of synch with someone I used to be able to react to without worrying about how I said it. Later I went back to look up something they had posted on Medium in response to one of my posts (thoughtful writer, which is why I enjoyed our conversations), and it was gone. Odd. I checked another response I remembered; gone. I dug further, and all our back and forth (at least their side of it, and I only traced my side through backups, because you know how hard it is to find stuff on Medium that isn’t linked) had vanished. It must have taken some amount of effort to delete everything, but I wasn’t blocked, just… eliminated from their history. Obviously I screwed up badly, but I still couldn’t tell you how, exactly. So, yeah, ghosting, definitely a hard kick to the chest.
