Folks like me (retired folks with pensions and IRAs that don't suck) who write for the hobby (in the IRS sense, meaning I spend more on writing than I make in income, but also as an activity I enjoy because of reading, posting, and sharing comments) can afford to wait until Medium gets their act together (AGAIN! I've been on board since 2015 🙄) but writers who actually need the bucks can't wait. "Gee, I can work on that story, which could end up paying $0.17, or I can look around for other places on the Internet and try to sell old Medium stories... Hmmm...
